How to Get and Change Outfits

Hello Kitty Party Land outfits give you plenty to collect, from Shopping Mall purchases to special clothing earned through friendship. Buy clothes and accessories with coins, then equip them through the Game Pad’s Clothing menu. Save your favorite combinations to switch looks without rebuilding an outfit piece by piece.

Buy Clothes at the Shopping Mall

You earn coins based on your results in the board game and other modes, then spend them at the Shopping Mall. Inside stores, you control your partner while shopping.

To browse and purchase clothing:

1. Stand in front of a store shelf and interact with it.
2. Check the merchandise displayed on the Game Pad.
3. Select a piece to preview how it looks on you.
4. Check its price before purchasing.

Owned merchandise displays a check mark instead of a price. Some styles also have multiple colors, so inspect the available options before choosing.

Try clothes on before spending coins, especially when you’re choosing pieces to match accessories you already own.

Equip Clothes From the Game Pad

While in Hometown, open the Game Pad with X on two Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller, or the Top Button on a horizontal Joy-Con. Enter the Clothing menu to change what you’re wearing.

Choose the clothing style first, then select its color. Uniforms have one restriction: you cannot wear tops or bottoms with a uniform. Switch out of the uniform when you want to combine separate pieces.

Save Up to Eight Favorite Outfits

The Favorites menu lets you register your current clothing combination as a set. You can save up to eight sets and select a registered set to change into it instantly.

To keep a combination:

1. Equip the clothes you want through the Clothing menu.
2. Open Favorites from the Game Pad.
3. Register the outfit you’re currently wearing.

When all eight slots are occupied, delete a saved set to make room for another. Register a look once you’re happy with its pieces and colors so you can return to it quickly.

Unlock Special Clothing Through Friendship

Shopping isn’t the only way to expand your wardrobe. Playing and chatting with partner characters gradually increases their friendship level, shown by the star icons above each character in the Partner menu.

A high enough friendship level can earn you special clothing. To access a special set you’ve received:

1. Open the Game Pad.
2. Enter the Partner menu.
3. Navigate to Friends.
4. Select the special clothing set.

Keep playing and talking with the character whose friendship you want to raise. Check the stars to track your progress.

Special clothing can also be found at the cave. Include that location in your clothing hunt alongside mall shopping and friendship rewards.

Change Your Appearance and Collect Hairstyles

Clothing is only part of your character’s look. During the initial Dress-Up setup, you can choose eyes, hair, eyebrows, and skin tone.

After starting the game, visit the Make-Up Salon on the Shopping Mall’s third floor to change your appearance for free. Use the salon when you want to adjust your appearance to go with a newly collected outfit.

The Waterwheel beside the Creative Labo offers another collectible: special hairstyles among its possible prizes. Draws require Waterwheel Tickets, which you receive as time passes. Helping friends with hide-and-seek also rewards tickets.

Customize the Character T-Shirt With Stickers

The Character T-Shirt is an early purchase bonus that supports sticker customization. Redeem its download code through Nintendo eShop to receive it.

With the shirt available, apply a sticker by opening the Sticker Book, moving the cursor over your chosen sticker, and pressing the Left Button on a horizontal Joy-Con.

Talk with friends and play minigames to collect more stickers. These give you additional designs to use on the shirt, connecting your sticker collection with your wardrobe.

Get the Free Launch Costumes

The October 29, 2026 launch update adds jinbei-style costumes for three Sanrio characters:

• My Melody
• Hangyodon
• Chococat

To receive them, connect your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet and update the game software to the latest version. Keep the physical game card inserted, or have the digital version installed.

The costumes install automatically with the update. Make sure your system memory or microSD card has enough free space for the download.
