How to Change Your Hairstyle

Hello Kitty Party Land hairstyles are easy to change: head to the Make-Up Salon on the third floor of the Shopping Mall for a free appearance refresh. You can experiment with your look while keeping your coins for clothing and accessories. Your starting hairstyle is also part of the Dress-Up step before you enter Party Land.

To change your appearance during the game:

1. Go to the Shopping Mall in Hometown.
2. Head to the third floor.
3. Visit the Make-Up Salon and choose your appearance options.

The initial Dress-Up setup includes hair, eyes, eyebrows, and skin tone. Pick a look you like to get started, then use the salon whenever you want a change.

While you’re at the mall, try on clothing to pair with your new hairstyle. Shopping puts you in control of your partner character. Stand in front of a store shelf and interact with it to display the merchandise on the Game Pad. Select clothing to preview it before spending coins. An item you already own displays a check mark in place of its price.

You can change purchased outfits through the Game Pad’s Clothing menu, choosing a style before selecting its color. Wearing a uniform prevents you from also wearing separate tops or bottoms. To keep a clothing combination handy, open Favorites and register your current outfit as a set. You can save up to eight clothing sets and delete a registered set to make room for another.

In multiplayer, the host handles entering and exiting buildings and making menu selections. Ask the host to stop at the Shopping Mall when it’s time for a makeover.

After your makeover, use the camera to take a photo of your avatar. Photos are saved to your system storage. The tripod camera faces your character, while the selfie stick lets you adjust the angle. With the default horizontal Joy-Con controls, press the right button to start the countdown. During that countdown, you can move with the stick, look toward the camera with the top button, jump with the bottom button, or emote with the left button.

How to Get Special Hairstyles

Special hairstyles are among the prizes at the Waterwheel, located next to the Creative Labo. You’ll need Waterwheel Tickets to draw for rewards.

The prize pool also includes coins, so a draw can give you something other than hair. Use tickets for a chance at special styles rather than expecting a hairstyle from every attempt.

Collect Waterwheel Tickets

There are two ways to get tickets:

• Let time pass. Waterwheel Tickets are awarded after a certain amount of time.
• Help with hide-and-seek requests. Friends in Hometown and other areas may ask you to find someone, and these requests can reward tickets.

When someone asks for help, use the drone camera to search. Its adjustable position lets you inspect the area from different viewpoints. With the default horizontal Joy-Con controls, the stick adjusts the drone’s position, while SL and SR control zoom.

The drone also has two movement modes. One moves the camera around its focus, and the other lets you move it freely. With the default horizontal Joy-Con controls, press the top button to switch drone modes. Press the left button to choose a camera target. Switch between those viewpoints while searching for the character named in the hide-and-seek request.

Keep an eye out for these requests while exploring. They give you an active way to work toward another draw alongside the tickets awarded over time.

Draw at the Waterwheel

Once you have tickets, return to the Waterwheel beside the Creative Labo and use them to draw prizes. This is the activity to prioritize when you’re hunting for special hairstyles.

Keep your shopping budget separate from your ticket collecting: coins buy merchandise at the Shopping Mall, Waterwheel Tickets pay for prize draws, and the Make-Up Salon changes your appearance for free.
